reviews: leftfield & chill (pg. 172) by dj pathagan

karsh kale
distance six degrees

distance features falguni shah singing a graceful, understated melody while karsh proves that the tabla is an instrument that is as ageless as it is ancient. an electronic tabla break halfway through the song further blurs the distinctive between old and new, east and west. this 12" sees the single getting the remix treatment four times, kicking off with the uk's very own ambient dub master banco de gaia and then by fellow asian producers midival punditz and capt. groove, both based in india. finally, kale provides a superb mix that will interest the 4/4 orientated amongst you. this one is definitely worth seeking out.
